Star Class on the Oasis of the Seas
Want the ease of a cruise with ready made activities for the kids but the luxury and privacy of the Four Seasons - it's possible if you book the right suite! We had our Maldives trip booked for April break and then life got in the way and we suddenly found ourselves in Florida for the semester with a different school break schedule. The only simple thing I seemed to come up with was a cruise so we could simply drive to port and not need to plan a thing. Unfortunately, everyone was moping about trading a family sized overwater bungalow in the middle of the Indian Ocean for adjoining balcony staterooms/suite on a crowded cruise ship visiting places we have already been. Then during one of my obsessive checks of stateroom inventory in categories nicer than what I could book the Royal Loft Suite popped up. We aren't cruisers so we had no idea how lucky we were, but thankfully I did call my travel agent (yes, this is the cruise that prompted me to start my own agency) right away and she snatched it right up on hold. The price was much higher than we wanted to pay for this particular vacation, but it was literally 1/3 of the typical cost for the Royal Loft Suite. It's the only one like it on the ship and there are only a handful of ships that have these suites. The suite comes with your own Genie because you are Star Class which is the highest status and basically everything is included except things like massages and shore excursions. We were at the tail end of COVID and I LOVED the idea of having my own little corner of the ship to dine in (you can even get room service from ANY alacarte restaurant on the ship) and relax in. We realized what a rare opportunity we stumbled upon and sucked up the price tag. Needless to say our family went from almost dreading the cruise to being over the moon. We had a great time because we could take part in any of the activities with the thousands of our "friends" on the ship OR we could return to our little Four Seasons enclave complete with it's own private hot tub on the deck and have complete solitude. Even though the main deck of the suite overlooks the rear sports deck of the ship, it wraps around to the side of the ship and has a privacy partition so that you can see nothing but seagulls and flying fish.
