We chose Ayada because it is in the pristine Southern Atolls, is considered 5-star, has family overwater bungalows that won't bankrupt you. More importantly, it offered surfing, diving and watersports. We were NOT disappointed! Although we did upgrade to the Royal Ocean Suite the last few nights - the extra space was just what our family needed.
When you are going to spend 30 hrs. flying get business class - many times it's less expensive than you think. Qatar Qsuites provide the most bang for the buck if you can get a good deal, which we did. These seats turn into a double bed!
This airport makes a layover fun! Want to shop for Louis Vitton at 2am - NO PROBLEM. Plus the business class lounge is a delight with it's showers and ala carte dining service.
There is nothing quite like being picked up and dropped off from the airport to the resort in a boat to a welcoming group of people. Just want you want after and before 30 hours of travel!
You've seen the pictures and guess what - they are JUST LIKE them in real life. You don't want to leave the deck. A dip in the pool a quick snorkel or a lounge in the sun - all from your bungalow.
Every single meal was waterfront, either on the beach, overlooking the beach or over the water. Even the hibachi grill was oceanside. First night we watched the sunset behind the hibachi, it was heaven.
Where else do you visit surf spots by boat?! Everyday there were surf options and morning 1-tank or 2-tank dives to choose from along with plenty of snorkeling, fishing and watersports. 10 dives later and I still didn't get enough of the fish and coral.
